ART EXHIBITIONS

Day in the Life II exhibition is now showing at the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands. The exhibit features Caymanian artists David Bridgeman, Kaitlyn Elphinstone and Nickola McCoy-Snell.

Alejandro Angel, Jr. is exhibiting his works at Butterfield Place in a show titled “we are only young once…”.

The Cayman Drama Society’s new Student Committee will be formed today with a meeting at 2pm at the Prospect Playhouse theatre, in which committee members will be elected. All are invited to attend.

Auditions will be held for the Cayman Drama Society’s next production Mary Slessor: Great White Ma today at 3pm at the Prospect Playhouse theatre. More auditions will follow tomorrow. The play is written and will be directed by Colin Wilson and this production will be its premier showing. Production dates will take place between 1 and 17 October, 2009, with rehearsals commencing 10 August.

The annual Chili Cook-off takes place this weekend at The Reef Resort in East End. Kids’ festivities, a s’mores pit and local Cayman bands will provide the entertainment. The winner of the cook-off will be automatically eligible to compete in the Las Vegas World Chili Championships in October. Continues tomorrow and Sunday.

Saturday, 25 July
Kri Dance School will hold a fundraiser tonight at Camana Bay. The event will raise funds for local kids studying at Kri to go to Miami for an international dance competition. At 4pm there will be a dance camp with artists from Orlando.
