Texans depend on Schaub’s arm

For the last few seasons the Houston Texans were seen as an unlucky team caught in one of the NFL’s toughest divisions.

This season marks a prime opportunity for Houston as only the Indianapolis Colts are ahead of them in the AFC South.

A big reason why Houston sits 5–4 is an offense that ranks third in passing yards per game (284.1) and sixth in total yards (374.9).

A big part of Houston’s scoring prowess is quarterback Matt Schaub. The former Falcons back–up has stepped up this season with 17 touchdowns and 2,653 passing yards already.

Schaub is the real deal and can prove that once again in tonight’s game against the Tennessee Titans at 8:30pm on ESPN.

Tennessee is a shell of last season’s 13–3 squad. The Titans have stumbled out to 3–6 due to a horrible defense (ranking near the bottom in nearly every statistical category) and sub–par passing game.

To be fair Vince Young has rattled off three straight wins after playing back–up to Kerry Collins. He has shown he still has big play potential with both his arm and feet.

However the team’s true bright spot is Chris Johnson. He is the heart of the offense with nine touchdowns and 1353 rushing and receiving yards.

Houston doesn’t have an offensive talent to counter Johnson but offers a solid runner in Ryan Moats.

In limited action this season he has nabbed three touchdowns while averaging over four yards a carry.

The Texans’ overall run game doesn’t inspire much confidence but their passing attack does. Tennessee’s secondary seems outmatched in a game where the best offense is the deciding factor.

Look for the Houston faithful to be treated to 38–17 Texans blow–out. It would be a surprise if Schaub doesn’t get 300 plus yards through the air.
