Principals get some appreciation

Tuesday 10th November, 2009   Posted: 14:08 CIT   (19:08 GMT)

A principal’s job is never easy, but those at the top may not always be praised for the tough job they do.

On Saturday, 24 October, the Optimist Club hosted an appreciation luncheon for all the primary and secondary school principals across the Cayman Islands.

More than 20 principals from Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac attended the event at The Ritz–Carlton hotel.

“Bringing out the best in our young people is the club’s priority, however we have to recognise the principals who have been doing so for years,” said Optimist Club president Elaine Harris.

She explained that the club wanted to recognise principals for their contribution to the education system and those who had been dedicated educators for a number of years.

She added: “We hope to make the luncheon an annual event.”

Cayman Brac West End Primary School principal Gale Connolly, who has been teaching for almost 40 years, received a special gift as the longest–serving educator in attendance.
