Taken away too soon

This reporter has met a lot of great people on the Cayman sports scene.

Many have the phenomenal talent in their discipline that screams world–class status.

Others have the level of dedication to their sport that makes coverage so much easier to achieve.

One man who had both was Phillip Parsons. He could get on a tear and post a crooked score as fast as any other player.

Yet away from the dart board he was hugely enthusiastic about a sport many would be quick to overlook.

He did all in his power to promote and grow the sport. From donations to charity to lending assistance to numerous tournaments, there was nothing Phillip would not do for darts.

He was not afraid to be quoted and readily provided as much information as possible to fuel this writer’s reporting prowess.

Away from the sport he was a gentle soul. He was a man’s man and enjoyed the things many men do. Yet his commitment to his family was clear.

Thus it is with a heavy heart this reporter has to type these words. At this point it is hoped he will have as good a time in heaven as he did on earth.
