Pirates Week nears

Swashbuckling pirates are set to invade Cayman shortly with the annual Pirates Week festival this November.

Here’s a look at what this year’s festival has in store:

Saturday, 1 November

Little Cayman Day.

Thursday, 6 November

5.30pm to 9pm – Pre– Pirates Week happy hour at Breezes by the Bay.

9pm – Pre–Pirates Week kick–off party at the Wharf.

Friday, 7 November

5.30pm to 7.30pm – happy hour at the Hard Rock Café.

4:30pm registration, Pirates Week 5K Run.

5pm – Pirates Week 5K Run start.

6pm – Pirate costume competition.

7 – Miss Festival Queen costume Competition.

7:30pm – Fireworks.

8pm – Pirates Week Songfest.

9pm to 2am – Street dance and food festival.

Saturday, 8 November

8am – 5K Sea Swim

2pm – Pre–landing entertainment.

3pm – Landing pageant at Hog Sty Bay followed by float parade.

7pm – Midnight street dance and food festival.

7pm – Midnight Teen Up Disco at the Craft Market.

Sunday, 9 November

1pm to 4pm – Children’s fun fair day.

1pm to 4pm – Underwater treasure hunt at Dive Tech, West Bay.

Monday, 10 November

8am – 10k sea swim

11am to 2am – West Bay Heritage Day

5pm – Turtle release

Tuesday, 11 November

11am to 2am – North Side Heritage Day.

Wednesday, 12 November

11am to 2am – Bodden Town Heritage Day.

Thursday, 13 November

11am to 2am – George Town Heritage Day.

Friday, 14 November

11am to 2pm – East End Heritage Day.

4pm to 8pm – Mike Lockwood Memorial International swim meet at the Lions Pool

Saturday, 15 November

8am to 5pm – Mike Lockwood Memorial International swim meet at the Lions Pool.

Noon to 8pm – Savannah/Newlands Heritage Day.

4pm to 5pm – Cardboard boat race.

7.30pm – Trial of the pirates.

7.50pm – Fireworks.

8pm – Midnight street dance finale, at Harbour Drive.

8pm – Midnight Teen Up Disco, Craft Market, Harbour Drive.

Sunday, 16 November

7am – Pirates Week 10K Run.

8am – Mike Lockwood Memorial International swim meet.

1pm – Mickey Mouse darts tournament.

Thursday, 20 November

8 – Warm Up Fete, Edd’s Place, Cayman Brac.

Friday, 21 November

9pm – Dance at La Esperanza, Cayman Brac.

Saturday, 22 November

3pm – Cayman Brac Heritage Day, at the Watering Place.

8pm – Dance at La Esperanza, Cayman Brac.
