Junior squash players will be in action this weekend.

The Kirk Office National Junior Squash Championships 2008 is slightly later than normal but as always, is very popular with the juniors.

Played over three days, starting on Friday, all players will play at least three matches to finally gain them a ranking in their division.

This year the categories are Beginners, Intermediates and Elite players fighting it out to become the 2008 champions.

Coach Dean Watson said: “Special thanks go to Kirk Office Equipment for again sponsoring this important event which continues to motivate and enhance the overall junior squash programme which has now seen its first junior enter the senior world rankings.

“I’m looking forward to seeing all players take part from new beginners to our very best.”

Two of the top juniors are Cameron Stafford and Josh Myren who are in the elite class.

Last year’s top junior, Alain Mudeen, 17, currently has professional world ranking of 407. Mudeen played his first event in Chicago as a wild card and faced David Palmer the No.1 seed and eventual finalist in the Sweet Home Chicago Open.
