NASCAR replicas sold for charity

Wednesday 6th December, 2006   Posted: 13:43 CIT   (18:43 GMT)

NASCAR replica cars are being sold for $10 this month to help raise money for the Cayman Islands Crisis Centre.

BestofCayman.com has teamed up with Hard Rock Café and Arch Automotive to raise the money.

“We are very excited to have the opportunity to support such a great organization,” said Carrie Layne, co–founder of BestofCayman.com. “This time of year can be very stressful on families and we are happy to support women and children during these rough times.”

The Crisis Centre provides safe temporary shelter and a supportive environment for abused women and their children.

BestofCayman.com is selling one–of–a–kind, limited edition Cayman Islands race car replicas of NASCAR driver Donnie Neuenberger’s car.

The cars cost $10 each, and 100 per cent of the proceeds will go to the Cayman Islands Crisis Centre.

“These cars make great stocking stuffers for kids of all ages,” she said.

The cars are available at Hard Rock Café and Arch Automotive through the month of December.

In addition to selling the NASCAR cars, the organisation is also excepting other items like children’s Christmas toys, food vouchers, diapers, baby bottles, baby wipes, baby food, pacifiers, toothbrushes, deodorant, toiletries, DVDs, games, books, stuffed animals, clothing; anything to help. Items can be taken to Arch Automotive or Hard Rock Café.

Arch Automotive has also donated a Christmas tree to the Cayman Islands Crisis Centre. Toy and gift donations will go under the tree, so the children have a gift to open on Christmas morning. Arch Automotive is accepting toys for children of all ages, and is open from 9–5pm Monday through Friday and from 9–noon on Saturdays.

The Hard Rock Café is also accepting toys and any other donations for the shelter, and will be giving out 15 per cent off meal vouchers for donations. Hard Rock Café is open Monday through Sunday, 9am–9pm.

“On behalf of the Cayman Islands Crisis Center, we extend our sincere gratitude to BestofCayman.com, Hard Rock Cafe and Arch Automotive for joining together to assist the women and children who access the Center,” said Nina Scott from the Cayman Islands Crisis Centre.

“I would also like to thank the members of the community for reaching out during this Christmas season and helping those in need.”
