Butterfield brings technology to St. Ignatius

Butterfield Bank (Cayman) Limited recently donated $5,000 to St. Ignatius Catholic School for the purchase of a new Interactive White Board.

“The project is one we are very enthused about as it opens up so many possibilities to improve learning for our students,” Jennifer Paul–O’Donnell, Principal of KG – Year 6, commented in a press release.

Interactive whiteboards are touch–sensitive projection screens. This technology requires a computer, a projector and the whiteboard itself. As you point at active elements on the board using your finger or an appropriate electronic ‘pen’ as a mouse, the action is transmitted to the computer, the release said.

“IWB’s are rapidly replacing traditional ones around the world and Cayman can’t afford to fall behind”, said HSA chairperson Danny Tathum.

“Supporting education and young people is a core commitment of Butterfield Bank and we are delighted to be able to help St. Ignatius expose their students to innovative learning tools,” said Karin Frewin, Butterfield’s marketing manager.
