Staff at the Elections Office wants to make sure that everyone qualified to vote in the General Elections does so.
To help, the final date of registration has been extended to 4 January.
While the deadline has been extended, those registering must be eligible to do so by 1 January. The registration date was extended three days because of the holidays.
The office is specifically seeking out young adults who are 18 and older.
“Quite s significant number of young adults registered in the June drive,” said Elections Supervisor Kearney Gomez. “Between now and 4 January everyone who is qualified since July can register.”
Those who are qualified can obtain registration forms from any post office or the Elections Office.
Those who aren’t sure whether they are qualified can read over the qualification requirements on the back side of the registration form or on the Elections Office website. Go to www.gov.ky and click on government websites. The Elections Office website is under the alphabetical listing E.
Mr. Gomez said registration help will be available in all districts.
Registration stations will be open until midnight 4 January, including on Cayman Brac, he said.
The office is also still offering the service of providing birth certificates for $1.
